Major Components of Plant #1

Vessel with lifting stage

Main Reactor Vessel

Vessel

Capacity 10 liters, rated pressure 10 Bar. The vessel has a heating jacket rated at 6 Bar for heating by steam or heat transfer oil. It has a centrally mounted magnetically coupled stirrerhead capable of transmitting 16 Nm torque to the anchor stirrer. There are various connections for the feeder reservoir, pressure gage, excess pressure valve, nitrogen and vacuum inlets, and vapor outlet.

Electrically operated lifting stage

For convenient raising, lowering and tilting of the main reactor vessel. The particular model shown does not use a scissors mechanism, which avoids possible accidents and any fouling of the tubes connecting the heating jacket to the heating medium. Fitted with upper and lower limit switches. The stage is fitted with blockable castors for easy movement.

Feeder reservoir

Feeder reservoir

5 liters capacity, rated 15 Bar. Filled through a B29 (29/32) conical joint port. Once reservoir has been filled, this port can be capped off. Fitted with pressure gage and excess pressure valve. Outlet to main reactor controlled through a needle valve.

Torque sensor

Torque sensor

The torque sensor is an enclosed unit fixed directly onto the stirrer motor, which make it stable and easy to use. It contains a shear rod to protect the sensor against excessive torque

Reflux condenser

Condensers

Reflux condenser

The component shown can be used either as a reflux condenser, or as a fractionating column. If used as a reflux condenser, water is passed through the outer cooling jacket. If used as a fractionating column, it is packed and the jacket left empty.

Tube and shell condenser

Main condenser

The main condenser has a central DN25 inlet for vapors, and is fed from the reflux condenser . The bunch of 37 straight tubes is easy to clean. Condensate outlet is a DN15 vertical connection.

Separator/decanter

Separator/Decanter

The 1.0 liter separator/decanter has a lateral sight glass for observing the boundary between two liquid phases. If syphons are set up between the reactor and the collector, continuous operation is possible

Collector

Collector

The collector vessel, 2 liter capacity, has various connections, including vacuum. Bottom outlet controlled by a ball valve.
